Pancho McGillicuddy Sighting!

Posted on Jul 21, 2009

The éS Game of SKATE crew is on the road again! Our good friend Jay, aka Fabby, from our hometown of Youngstown, Ohio, joined us for the first week of the tour to help out and enjoy road life with us. We're excited to be on the road again and looking forward to another fun-filled summer!

We had a four day drive to Omaha, Nebraska, filled with lots of driving and fun. In Williams, Arizona, en route to the Grand Canyon, we came across a restaurant called Pancho Mcgillicuddy’s. We found it pretty funny since I use the word “McGillicuddy” often in the van, usually sarcastically.

We got hyped at Pancho Mcgillicuddy’s, then checked out the Grand Canyon for some sightseeing.

After the Grand Canyon, we hit Albuquerque, New Mexico for some ditch skating -- one of our favorites is there -- the Indian School Ditch, where Dieter’s friend Johnny Gomez came out to skate with us. We were hoping to eat at the pizza spot the Pie Shack but it was closed for renovations. Local boy Johnny showed us to Dion’s Pizza, where we ate before heading towards Omaha.

The whole next day was spent driving to Oklahoma City, and we stopped at the world famous Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas for some photo fun. This is the spot where 10 Cadillacs are buried in the ground and you can tag them freely with no worries of the law coming down on you. It’s art therapy for travelers, I guess.

We arrived in Omaha and met our friend Courtney from the GRO (Girl Riders Organization) at the hotel and spent some time catching up. We just finished the Game of SKATE in Omaha, Nebraska, and Alex Meyer came out on top. Congrats Alex! We are on our way to photo intern Phil Blair’s hometown of Chicago to enjoy an off day full of skating and hanging out with friends! See you on the road!
