Can A Place Called White City Really Be Fun?
So straight outta Medford we headed up to White City to skate this really fun street-plaza park. White City by all definitions is a tiny town with it's roughly 6000 people, yet it contains some pretty interesting history nestled amongst it's many logging plants and lumber yards.
For example, I bet you didn't know that the largest concentration of Fairy Shrimp in the US exist in the vernal pools of the Nature Conservancy's Agate Desert Preserve. Eat, eat, eat dat shrimp....
How about this little tidbit for your brain: The Denman Wildlife area consists of two regions to the North and South of the White City Industrial park, the northern segment lies along the Rogue River and Little Butte Creek. Much of this is bottomland and contains remnants of the World War II Camp White army training base. There are several ammunition storage areas there.
Most importantly though, we want you to know that the skatepark was fun, the locals were pretty cool, if not a little weird, and that overall we enjoyed our three hours skating this park. Even though I would have rather spent a little less time on ONE park and made our way to some of Central Oregon's more transitional parks, this was not a wasted stop on our way to Portland!
Peep the footy, holmes!
Special shout-out to the local kid that had no idea we were coming to skate his park and showed up fully-flared in his éS shoes, shirt, hat and Skullcandy headphones! It was his lucky day as the crew unloaded some free gear on him and skated the park with him and his friend. éS <3 skateboarding! Yaheard!
