Toronto, Canada

On Sunday, June 22, 2008, over 50 skaters battled it out to name one champ in the éS Game of SKATE 2008 Toronto Eliminations! The competition took place at Scadding Court Skatepark, which is run by the City of Toronto. éS Footwear collaborated with the city to make this amazing event take place.
Some classic battles went down, last year’s defending champ TJ Rogers, against last year’s qualifying rider Kenny Hunt. All eyes were on their lane, early on, Kenny had TJ down to his last letter, while Kenny was letter-less! Somehow, TJ came back at Kenny with his bag of tricks and managed the win. éS rider Mike Crook had some excellent battles as well, one against Pat O’Rourke seemed to call up almost every trick imaginable. Luckily, the weather co-operated with us this year and held off - it rained an hour after we had named a winner!

The final game was a three way game between Jonathan Piekarski, Paul Liliani and TJ Rogers. It was a neck-and-neck game, as all three players traded letters. Paul’s knife was his consistency and clean trick execution in this final game.
The top six skaters who competed are:
1. Paul Liliani
2. TJ Rogers
3. Jonathan Piekarski
4. Mike Crook
5. Herbert Davie
6. Phong Truong
When all was said and done, the 15-year-old Paul Liliani walked away victorious. Congratulations to Paul and all of the skaters that came out to make this event go off! This year’s éS Game of SKATE 2008 Toronto Eliminations was presented by éS Footwear and the City of Toronto. Special thanks to the park co-ordinator Rob Poyner, announcer Josh Glover, scorekeepers Migs Bartula, Scotty Macdonald and Dustin Wilson for their watchful eyes. Ashlea Hunt, Matt Clifford, and Sanction’s own Malcolm Vaugahn for their assistance and support! Cheers to anyone we may have forgotten.
