éS Game of SKATE 2008 European Finals

Posted on Jun 30, 2008

Prague, Sunday June 29, 2008: Stalin Plaza was the location for this year's éS Game of SKATE European Finals! Skaters from 24 countries competed and about 200 people turned up to watch. All of the skaters had won their local qualification rounds that took place during the last few months and were vying for their ticket to the éS Game of SKATE World Championships in the States.

Groupshot

Skaters showed up from all over Europe; Portugal, Italy, Greece, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, France, UK, Croatia, Belgium, Netherlands, Bulgaria, Romania, Sweden, Denmark, Slovenia, Spain, Serbia, Hungary, Czech and Slovakia.

Brackets

It took about two-and-a-half hours to work our way down the grid.

Sewa Kroetkov

Everyone expected Sewa Kroetkov (last year’s finalist and winner of the 2005 European Finals) to win, but unfortunately he didn’t get further then the Quarter-Finals this year.

Filip Kisin

After 19 games, the Finals went down between Filip Kisin (Croatia) and Jan Henrik Kongstein (Norway).

Jan Henrik Kongstein

Filip gave Jan Henrik a really hard time, but Norway won the éS Game of SKATE European Finals of 2008.

Alex Mizurov and Jan Henrik Kongstein

The winner from last year, Alex Mizurov, was also invited to come to Prague. He is already placed for the Finals in the States. We set up an extra Game with this year's winner, Jan Henrik Kongstein.

Money, money, money

He had the chance to win 50 Euros for each letter he got out of Alex.

Alex

Jan Henrik got close, but Alex beat him. Jan Henrik got four letters though, so he walked away with 200 Euros--not bad! Next year: another éS Game of SKATE, another European Finals. We are looking forward to it!
