Rochester, New York

All skate scenes have a figurative heart—something at the center that keeps everything going, despite trends, weather, economy and “growing up.” In Rochester, New York, the heart of the skate scene is Krudco, and that’s where we held the first upstate New York éS Game of SKATE.

The spot was perfect—smooth ground surrounded by a grassy knoll at one end of a skatepark, on a hot summer day. This was another one of those éS Games of SKATE in which we couldn’t predict a winner—there were a bunch of strong candidates, and our usual betting pool was hard to get commitments for.

In the end, it was young Andrew Grabowski from Syracuse who put the last nail in the coffin with a Varial heelflip. Andrew will be out in San Diego trying to put upstate New York on the éS Game of SKATE world map in September.
