Kettering, Ohio
The skate plaza that Rob Dyrdek built in his hometown of Kettering, Ohio is one of the coolest skateparks in the world. Despite different ideas about skatepark design—many people feel that skateparks should include space for all aspects of skateboarding—there’s no denying at least these two facts: one, the skate plaza idea was groundbreaking, forward-thinking, and generally amazing; and two, the skate scene in Kettering, and the greater Dayton, Ohio, area has seen tremendous growth since the plaza was built.
This growth meant that the first trip to Kettering for the éS Game of SKATE crew was met with a huge crowd, all anxious to show off their skills. Although there were a number of rippers who could’ve taken the top spot home, it was Joe Hook who got that Boost Mobile phone, and he’ll need it to call home from Cali, where he’ll be representing Ohio in the éS Game of SKATE Amateur World Championships.
