Orange, California
The éS Game of SKATE, presented by Boost Mobile, in Orange, California, was finally the size that it should be in the heart of Orange County. After a couple of years of small contests, 187 skaters came out to rip the flatland this year, as well as another 400 or so spectators. The usual crowd of SoCal skaters was there, and the finals represented that.
Last year’s winner, Milo Rivera, was back in the finals, along with local boy Kris Crown, and other shredders from the Southland: Val Arkenstone, Donnie Mitchell, Mark Bennett and Chris Lopez filled out the final round of six. It came down to Milo and Donnie and a T-to-T score, and Donnie put the finishing touch on his win with an inward heel that Milo didn’t match. Donnie will be in San Diego for the Boost Mobile / éS Game of SKATE Amateur World Championships in September.
